Writopia Lab is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in New York City in April of 2007. We run creative writing workshops for kids ages 6 to 18. All of our workshops have a maximum of six students and are led by a published writer who has been fully trained in our time-tested methodology. In each of the past three years, more kids from Writopia Lab have been recognized on both the regional and national levels by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards than from any other school in the nation.

Summer Workshops with Writopia Lab

Writopia Featured on Voice of America

A few weeks ago, we had an exciting day here at the Tenleytown location of Writopia Lab DC: journalist Faiza El Masry and a camera crew from Voice of America (VOA) visited our after-school workshops to document the magic that happens when our young writers gather together.

VOA broadcasts all over the world as the official media outreach of the U.S. government. This means that people from Europe to East Asia to Africa to the Middle East have seen our awesome writers in action!

The video is now ready to view on the VOA website — and we’d love to share it with you. Click here to check it out, and do help us spread the word! This is a great chance to share Writopia with your schools, friends, neighbors, etc.

We’re so excited that VOA has broadcast Writopia Lab to the world. We’re proud of our young writers, and we’re grateful to you, as always, for your tremendous support of our program!

Thanks for watching, and keep writing. 🙂
